12 Days of Christmas Book Tag
So if you existed in the blogging community back in 2014, you might have seen this tag around as it was created last year by Ashley @ Falling Down The Book Hole.
AND YES I WAITED A FULL YEAR TO DO THIS TAG LOL. But now I will bring it back to life because I can.
On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?
I don’t have children (yet?) but this question is like asking who your favourite child is. I mean obviously you have a favourite (anyone who says otherwise is lying) but rarely do you ever say it out loud…SO I REFUSE TO ANSWER THIS.
On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?
From a television front: it has to be FitzSimmons from Agents of SHIELD. I will fight you.
From a book front, this year at least, maybe Alina and Nikolai? But then again, I kinda dislike Alina. There wasn’t really a strong ship I could ride and die with this year.
On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?
As of now, probably Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness. Definitely subject to change when I actually put more effort into reading all the trilogies.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
As a fan of the Game of Thrones television shows, I do have to credit the source material in A Song of Fire and Ice by GRRM.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.
One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?
Mayor Prentiss from Chaos Walking. He’s incredibly nuanced that he’s basically a hero in his own right.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?
Anything that’s a nod to Urban Fantasy, incorporating contemporary environments with magic is a winner for me.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
MANCHEE. Only those who have experienced the greatness of Manchee will understand this…
On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?
Off the top of my head, the feasts in Harry Potter seems like a good choice? Or Samwise Gamgee + potatoes nonsense (cue: boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew).
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?
In 2015, it’s gotta be Inej. Or Nina? Either is a solid choice.
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.
How about your favourite leading lad?
Jesper (Six of Crows) or Kell (A Darker Shade of Magic). Probably. Or Mikey from The Rest of Us Just Live Here.
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)
I’ll reference sound in this one but Bird Box largely focused on being visually impaired as the protagonist and her kids were mostly living in the dark and had to travel by way of knowing the sounds.
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?
My “favourites” of anything 2015 can be summed up in my recent award show shindig for books I read in 2015.

I just did this tag again for this year! Thanks for bringing my tag back to life! I obviously really need to read the Chaos Walking Trilogy!

Thank you for creating this tag! I remembered commenting that I’d add this to the bucketlist but I totally forgot to do it by the time Christmas rolled around. So this post was a year in the making!

Oh I like how you did this tag here instead of dragging it out. I was recently tagged and I’m quite busy, so I think I’ll cheat and do what you did too.

I didn’t even know that the other 12 Days of Christmas thing with different prompts per day was another book-centric tag haha. This tag has been on the back burner for a year since it was made in 2014. Either way, enjoy the tag!

I’ve had the Chaos Walking trilogy on my shelf for years and really need some motivation to read it so these answers make me want to read one of his novels. I might start with The Rest of Us.
In the Grisha trilogy I honestly shipped Alina with the Darkling the entire time. I was hoping for a Darkling retribution. Mal was just so ugh.
Harry Potter feasts are all you need in life. Just being real.
Thanks for the tag!

YES I REMEMBER YOUR IMAGE SOMEWHERE OF YOUR LONE COPY OF KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO. Liam, be a bestie and read it. I won’t hate you if you dislike it. I’ll only stop tagging you (THE SAME THING, I DON’T KNOW?).
I tell this to everyone, but Ness’ The Rest of Us isn’t one I’d recommend starting on unless you’re incredibly invested in the premise. I think that’s the main problem with it: it’s basically plotless.
I liked Darklina until he got no screen time in S&S and it was just Nikolai shipping from there on out.

I’ve even got The Ask and the Answer ready to go as well. I’m just skeptical and when I tried to read it, I couldn’t get into it. I’ll try and fulfill our friendship by doing so!
Which novel do you recommend to start with then?
I don’t mind Alina with Nikolai either-especially the whole ship captain thing going on- (that was fun) just anyone but Mal. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Forever team Darkling!

Yes the tater’s song is quite precious! I paid no mind to taters in general when I first saw the film but now I can’t un-see or hear that moment LOL.

I still need to finish Chaos Walking! Ahhh! I only read the first book so far. I sang the 12 days of Christmas song as reading this post lol. It’s so hard not to sing it.

The lyrics of 12 Days brought me back to childhood singing it in an auditorium of elementary school. Shit, I’m old.

I remember in Elementary school we did the one that goes “all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” and I had to be up front of the group, because I was the only kid missing their two front teeth LOL!

It’s not a true Joey post unless there’s some mention of Ness love, haha. And gah, I can’t wait to meet the cast in Six of Crows. (I noticed SoC is on your favorites shelves on Goodreads. That good, huh?) 😀
